History
In 1997, The company’s founder, Long Fenggang, started from scratch in Shangbai Town, Laifeng Township, Fuling District, Chongqing, and established Chongqing Longxiang Rubber & Plastics Co., Ltd. He then embarked on pioneering the motorcycle parts and accessories market, ultimately selecting rubber and plastic motorcycle components—such as handlebar grips, reflectors, and shock absorber dust boots—as the company’s core product line.
In 2001, To expand into new markets beyond the motorcycle parts and rubber/plastic products sector, the company decided that a newly established entity would be specifically tasked with executing this strategy; in November, the internal naming of the new company was finalized as Longrun.
In 2003, After nearly two years of exploration, the company has designated automotive steering systems as its primary product focus.
In 2004, Under the leadership of Chairman and General Manager Long Fenggang, the company established its organizational structure and, from its inception, integrated research and development, manufacturing, and sales. On November 19, 2004, Chongqing Longrun Automotive Steering Gear Co., Ltd. was officially registered and established in Laifeng Town.
2005 At its inception, the company operated out of a single workshop leased from Longxiang, with fewer than five pieces of processing equipment and fixed assets totaling less than RMB 500,000. In June 2005, it produced its first batch of products—167 steering gear units—thereby entering Dongfeng Sokon’s supply chain and officially entering the automotive steering systems market. By August 2005, the company had achieved monthly sales revenue of RMB 2,900, with cumulative sales for the year reaching RMB 1,292,192.70 and tax payments totaling RMB 30,773.40.
From 2006 to 2010 Over the past five years, the company has invested more than RMB 22 million in equipment. By the end of 2010, its total assets exceeded RMB 60 million, and its workforce had grown to over 300 employees. During this period, the company successively entered the supply chains of Changan Automobile and SAIC-GM-Wuling, smoothly obtained TS16949 quality management system certification, and initiated product upgrades and replacements while actively pursuing the research, development, and industrialization of electric power steering (EPS) systems. In 2010, the company’s main business revenue surpassed RMB 88 million, and it paid RMB 1.26 million in taxes for the year.
From 2011 to 2015 Over the past five years, the company, as one of the first enterprises to sign an investment agreement with the Bishan District Government for factory construction under its investment promotion program, has established operations in the Bishan Industrial Park and officially relocated from Laifeng to Bi Quan Subdistrict in 2012. In 2011, the company’s Technology Center was recognized as a Chongqing Municipal Enterprise Technology Center, and the same year, its Model 6350 steering gear was designated a “Chongqing Famous Brand Product.” In 2012, the Longrun trademark was awarded the title of “Chongqing Well-Known Trademark.” During this five-year period, more than ten of the company’s products were consecutively recognized as “Key New Products of Chongqing,” and the company obtained over 180 national patents, including more than 40 invention patents, before being certified as a National High-Tech Enterprise in 2013. Meanwhile, thanks to its superior product quality and high-quality after-sales service, the company has been honored with numerous awards from its automotive OEM partners, such as the Quality Contribution Award, Outstanding Supplier Award, Excellent Service Award, Best Service Award, and Best Quality Supplier Award. The company’s customer base has also expanded significantly, with FAW, BAIC, Huachen, Chery, JAC, and other leading automakers now among its clients. In 2015, Longrun achieved sales revenue of RMB 196.45 million and paid taxes totaling RMB 8.17 million.
2016 to 2020 Over the past five years, the company has commissioned its second plant in the Bishan High-tech Industrial Development Zone, covering approximately 90 mu, and the first phase of its third plant, spanning about 270 mu, was also put into operation in January 2019. As a result, the company now boasts an annual production capacity of 800,000 sets of electric power-assisted steering systems and 2 million sets of steering gear (including tie rods). Through technological collaborations with global Fortune 500 companies such as Continental of Germany and Nidec of Japan, as well as industry–university–research partnerships with prestigious institutions including Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Longrun has acquired full independent intellectual property rights, significantly enhancing China’s autonomous core competitiveness in the automotive electric steering sector. During this period, the company also entered the supply chains of leading automakers such as Great Wall, BYD, Geely, Hyundai, and Ford. In 2018, the company was honored as an Outstanding Private Enterprise of Chongqing Municipality and continued to serve as a director unit of the Steering Gear Committee of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. In 2020, the company recorded revenue of RMB 775.84 million and paid a total of RMB 49.16 million in taxes and other levies.
Since 2021 To adapt to the evolving competitive landscape, the company established a research institute in Shanghai dedicated to cutting-edge industry technologies. In addition, following consultations and mutual agreement with the Bishan District Government, the company commenced construction of a new 338-acre industrial park in the Bishan High-tech Industrial Development Zone. In 2021, the company’s annual output value exceeded RMB 1 billion, and its actual tax payments reached RMB 54.75 million.
